NewsBASE Project Wins AwardPosted 4/27/2012 – The Pacific Aviation Museum S-84 Control Tower Stabilization project was recognized by the Historic Hawaii Foundation with a Preservation Honor Award. The Control Tower was constructed in 1941 and is one of the most important visual landmarks in the Pearl Harbor National Historic Landmark. It suffered from significant steel corrosion and underwent substantial rehabilitation including abatement, demolition, sand blasting, steel replacement, and application of new paint. The stabilized tower now stands as a strong testament to America’s history, perseverance and sacrifices of past generations. |
