Background
Work on this project provides for the design and construction of facilities for new munitions storage igloos to support forward positioning of munitions at this strategic overseas Air Expeditionary Force Forward Operating Location. Baldridge & Associates Structural Engineering, Inc. performed a design validation of the Standard 7 bar Air Force Modular Storage Magazine, Box-Type (Hayman Igloo) for gravity, typhoon and seismic forces.

Advanced Technology
While the Munitions Storage Igloo design had already been developed, the design required updating to current military standards. Because the project is located in Guam, it would require validation for some of the most extreme typhoon and earthquake standards in the world. Detailed analysis and design were required to modify the design to meet all of the project requirements.

Client Benefits
Through the design/build process the team was able to advance the design of what was considered a military standard application. The updated design is now considered the military standard and is being applied on future projects throughout the world.
